Doctors for MVD

Hi All! I wanted to know if any of you have had experience with either of these neurosurgeons: Dr. Nicholas Barbaro (IU Medical Center, Indianapolis) or Dr. Joshua Rosenow (Northwestern Memorial, Chicago). I'm am considering these two neurosurgeons along with Dr. Ken Casey for my MVD and wanted to get some real patient feedback on the first two (I know all about Dr. Casey and feel good with him). I live in Indianapolis and have family in Chicago. I have done research on all 3 doctors and think that all three would be great. I have my first consultation with Dr. Barbaro in a week. I was just diagnosed about 5 weeks ago with classic TN1 (and a few TN2 symptoms it seems now too). The meds are working pretty well but I am young (44) and healthy so I'm fairly certain that MVD is the right option for me. I just want to make sure I choose the right doctor and take my time with that.

Thanks!

I chose Dr. Casey and flew from MO to MI - because he learned under the inventor of MVD - and has done them so long -he could probably do them in his sleep!

It's great that you are researching getting this done sooner than later. Statistically that means the better your odds for TN1.

I'm sure you've looked under the Doctors tab here.... have you put the names of the doctors in the search box here or on the website of the TN Assoc?

Good Luck!

Please update when you decide. There are a few posting about Douglas Anderson in Chicago at Loyola University. I actually have his page open staring at it today. I had gamma knife in August of 2012 and it has just gotten worse over time. I have had the Mayo Clinic in MN offer me an appointment but it is a long way to travel. I am torn as to what to do next.
