Hello there- this is my first time posting on the site, though I have read many, many posts and they have helped in many ways. I've never met anyone in person with tn, and definitely not any teens (you'd think after 8 years.... anyway...). I know this question may seem random and irrelevant, but it has already had me stressing what to do, and I'd rather not have to worry about this for the next few months. I planned a trip to Disney World with my two friends from college for this January. I'm very excited to go! However, the last time I went (about a year ago), it triggered an awful episode. I don't know if it was the stress of the trip, the changes in pressure after flying on the plane, or the changes in temperatures from walking outside to waiting in line, and back outside again, but I'm trying to think of a solution so I don't have to spend my whole trip on heavy pain-killers again. My mother has MS and does not do well in the heat, so the guest assistance card really helped us, and allowed her not to get numb, or affect her vision (as it did the time before last- not fun spending day #1 in emergency room lol). Since she's not on this trip, I feel bad using the guest assistance card though- though I think being able to stay in consistent temperatures helped me a lot. Any ideas that anyone has used to avoid the pain? Any preventative non-medical measures any of you have taken? I'm (for the most part) in remission right now, and I'm hoping to keep it that way for a while! Thanks guys!
Get two prescriptions…
Have doctor call in for you
Lidoderm patches for face… Cut them up into little shapes and cover your pain… Works for hours.
this is strongest for pain of the two.
Lidocaine cream for face. Must put it on every few hours , on pain area, is clear cream.
I did switch them back and forth between what we were doing on our cruise.
Also of course had them at home and work just in case!
No druggy feelings with these!
Did you use them as preventative or once you got the pain?
In January their shouldn't be any lines to wait in at DW. That should be a help. Storms may be a problem if the air pressure triggers your TN.
I also use the topical cream and use it for breakthrough pain. It works right away. I put in on my face and along my gum line and it goes mercifully numb. I don't really use it as a preventative. It can be expensive if you don't have insurance and in that case I would use it as needed. My insurance pays for it so I use it more liberally. (It's around $80 for a tube).
I don’t think the cream should go in the mouth…for that use lidocaine mouthwash perhaps ?
When I thought I might get TN PAIN in frozen food area…at store…I would take it before, otherwise only as needed… Unless you have triggers…then before
The gel/cream is used for dentures so this particular stuff is used inside the mouth and can be used on any open wound. It might be different type of lidocaine gel
