Anyone with ATN ever go into remission

Just trying to stay hopeful that when it gets to be nice out that I can bring my son outside for at least a walk. Besides covering up your face while wearing a tank top & looking like a lunatic, any other tips? I got this in October & it wasn't really that cold out but the wind would make it worse. Now, my right lower jaw just gets this cold sensation that wont go away when i'm in the cold & my face gets all tight & i have alot of ache in my face.

Please Lord Jesus just let me be an active mom that I was before. It's breaking my heart.

My neuro who diagnosed me with ATN says that it does go into remission for some people. There is always hope. Have you tried acupuncture and some topical treatments? Acupuncture helped me and some people on this site. I also put ayurvedic balm on my jaw where I feel pain, it contains cinnamon and other spices and herbs and I find it helpful.

Lidocaine patches -- 12 hours of relief -- allowed me to do many things !!! Have somebody call you in a prescription!!!

So you wear the lidocaine patch for 12 hours?

Hi Tiarre,

Yes! I have ATN and it's been almost two months now that I've been pain free.:o)

I get a little tight in the jaw at times but I can live with that. I know how you feel; I have two children myself.

Yes - you cut them up to fit over the place that hurts -- mine was branch 2 --- cheekbone down to top of lip....since you cut them to size they last forever... gave me back the ability to lower my meds and walk my dogs and many other things I had not been able to do.

Oldriska do you put that all over your face or just your jaw? And Kayla do you get to go outside? And KCDancer do you have ATN? I would have to put them all over my face lol!

No mine is/was Type 1 TN --- there are many compounds and creams that a compound pharmacy can make --- like lidocaine +ketamine --- put topical in the search box - or go to groups tab and click on the topical relief group

There is regular lidocaine cream I've used - it's clear, just not as strong as patches but well worth a try!!!!

All prescription

yes, I do go outside; and I live in the Midwest so that's saying a lot!

Can you use lidocaine cream in your mouth or just the mouthwash. I am going to ask for the mouthwash. How helpful is it?

I live in Cleveland Ohio and we get hit pretty hard too!

Where is rhe search box or group tabs? I asked my doctor about lidocain mouthwash and he said it wasn't any different then anbesol and why would I want mouthwash that would numb my whole mouth. When the pain is bad I wouldn't care if my whole mouth was numb.
