My name is Sherry and I am new to this support group. I am very pleased to have access and contact to other patients who suffer with this disease.
I have had TN since the late 1980's and have had MVD and glyserol rhizotomy along with a lot of medication!! Only the glyserol rhizotomy conducted about 15 years ago brought me relief. However, I now have some sensation that has returned from the rhizotomy and along with it mild (very mild) tic pain from time to time.
I currently am undergoing dental work which has me greatly concerned. Dentists have never felt like my friends - they scare me - mostly because not many I have met have worked on TN patients. Anyway, I had a bridge that failed and am now having dental implants placed on the right rear side (my TN is on the left.)
I also have to have the four front teeth recapped - and that is my major concern. One of the major trigger points is between two of my front teeth. I do not know if a regular dentist can handle the procedure or if I need to find a specialist?
Does anyone have feedback on how to select a dentist for the procedures for the front teeth? I am in Mesa, AZ (the greater Phoenix Metropolitan area.) Does anyone know a good dentist who has experience with TN patients?
