How many people think to use this? It could be a really useful thing except most if the chat is unanswered. Do people think to open this up when they are online or do you not like it?
When I’m checking in daily… I prefer message box… If I’m trying to help somebody with a post or message, and two others pop up on instant… I cant deal with it…probably my kids more communicate with IM.
So mine is turned off… I think it is used in waves
Try facial pain assoc. See if theirs is more heavily used …if they have one.
: )
Definitely think we need a chat. Perhaps we could set up a volunteer system. Maybe like 1 or 2 hours a week that we could be on and avail for chat. I know there have been times when I am desperate for someone to talk to, if only for a few minutes. Has to be someone that has chronic pain, otherwise even our friends do not understand. Just a thought.
It's funny you brought this up but I have often thought it would be nice to have a planned time for a chat.
I'm new to the site and the first thing I tried was chat room. Nobody was there! I'm not sure where to go to ask questions. I'm having so many problems from this disease and it seems no one around me understands. They often ask why is your face or eye swollen and don't understand there is sooooo much pain!
Virginia girl you can just start a new thread with your questions. People come and go all day on this site. I often check several times a day.
Glad I’m not the only one! I’ve done the “is anyone here” while feeling embarrassed. My opinion is that while posting a thread and waiting for a response is good, a live chat facility is equally good, there’s something to be said about talking with someone live when you need advice
I should also say that another advantage is that a chat forum discussion doesn’t stay visable for anyone to see. Sometimes I’d like to say something that isn’t visable the next b day
I’ve decided that when I’m on I’ll put a message in the chat that I’m online, that way if anyone wants to they know I’m there…but I won’t feel as silly as doing the hello is anyone out there thing!
I have tried to use it but find it much like standing in an empty room with my own voice echoing back, hello…
