Many have mentioned capsaicin as part of their regime. I am currently trying it out, and find the cream very helpful as an attack-drug. However, I was hoping it would have more of a preventative effect. I have also upped my intake substantially, but Idon't think eating it makes a big difference for me.
How do you use it, which effect are you getting, and how long did you have to follow through to get there?
I just have to add my review after a month's use: This cream is a godsend! Once I got past my skin-sensitivity, I could add increasingly more cream, and it helps both TN and ATN. I am currently having to work 12 hour days in front f the computer - my worst trigger, and a definite killer together with reading, but this cream literally takes away most or all the pain! Really, everyone should try it. I have 6 branches firing constantly, and when my carba-nortrypcombo does little, this capsaicin makes life worth living again. :-)

No schedule, I just bought a cheap cream on e-bay and put it on. After 3-4 weks mixing it with oil, I could finally put enough cream on to really help a lot. Usually, I put it on when Istart feeling pain, and it works in minutes. I use a sponge to save my contacts/eyes the trouble. If I hve more pain, I just apply wen needed. The first day, when I got it, I put a big blob on. Don't do that, haha. Worse than TN!
There are tons of recipes online on how to make your own. I will do that next.
Hello. Found your suggestion and am excited to try capsaicin. Can you share the brand that has given you relief? I looked through this discussion, but could not find. Thanks. L.
My understanding is that capsaicin is the stuff that makes cayenne pepper burn, so I actually tried to eat super spicy food the other day. It does seem to shock the nerve into behaving (of course as we know, something may work once or twice and then make it worse), maybe even a numbing effect, but I haven't actually tried any kind of topical variety.
You don't eat it; however, I have put a Capsaisin coated finger on my gums, with relief. ATN kinda makes one do that kind of thing... Capsasin gives me good relief, but it only last a hour or two when I rub it on my skin. Better than drugs. I only take Advil, otherwise. There are other products that are similar and over the counter. I'm new to this.
