I am on many medicines for TN and two surgeries past and still have head pains and this past week I was just wondering if caffeine had anything to do with the pain. I stopped the caffeine- sweet tea(southern thing), colas, and even chocolate. The first two days were horrible drinking only water and apple juice and the caffeine withdrawal headaches but noticing my TN headaches were leaving my side that soon. It’s been five days and I’ve went from 5 headaches a day to 1 to 2. Either it’s just a conscience or caffeine may be a relationship? Thought I’d share this helpful hint I’ve found. Maybe it can help some of y’all. Please put y’all’s input!!
So caffiene increases cerebral blood flow. It is also something known to aggravate inflammation. Both suggest it could effect a condition that is effected by both. I think this would have more to do with how caffiene effects your body.
It’s funny you say Immflamation because on my MRI it kept showing a “hot spot” and after IV steriod treatment it still did not go down. So maybe this has helped. Just the taking away of caffeine
Steroids helped short term for me. But my doctor told me it was a long shot. For me the restriction of blood vessels which is another effect of caffiene, gives me a very short relief of the pain.
Let me suggest one more thing… Dehydration. Are you drinking more water now than before? That also effects nerves and blood vessels.
I received a shot for my eczema and it helped for the eczema and headaches but the IV steriods which was a stronger dosing but different steriod didn’t seem to help. But I don’t drink a lot either way. Maybe two bottles of water a day at max. I’ve never been a drinker with food or just in general. In the summer I’ll drink maybe four glasses or so but that’s about it. I guess I get it from my mom.
