Revised Medical Criteria for Evaluating Neurological Disorders
Document Number: 2014-09480
Type: Proposed Rule
Date: 2014-04-28
Agency: Social Security Administration, Agencies and Commissions
Anyone heard anything? I had to miss it. Is it recorded anywhere that I can go to?
Comments are still open until early June. In the past month, a lot of the comments have been offered to advocate inclusion of Trigeminal Neuralgia and migraine headaches in the list of recognized neurological disorders. The US Huntington's Disease association is also engaged on a campaign to change the criteria to recognize cognitive disturbances as a condition worthy of disability support as well.
Is there an update on this? I have been fighting with social security for 2 years now. I am on zombie meds, narcotics almost daily and a synthetic marijuana. And they said that I only experience "discomfort" so I can work. I don't think the people reviewing this claim even know what TN is. They are clueless that besides the non-stop pain, that you have major side effects of memory issues, confusion, balance, coordination, issues urinating because the pain killers affect muscle control, nausea and vomiting, dizziness and so much freaking more. It is so frustrating. "Discomfort" That's why so many people kill themselves when they have this disease. Because they experience "discomfort". I won't even get my next hearing for another 18 months. Arggghhh. They need to get this put on the Social Security Compassionate Allowance List since their workers don't understand what this is.
You’re lucky you get pain meds. My doctors won’t give me any. They tell me to take motrin and if the pain is unbearable to go to the ER. PSH! I’d be living in the ER if I did that. I’m also having trouble with disability. They say I’m not ‘unable to perform my work duties’ as a chef. Man oh man I’d like to have them feel what I feel in cold Temps and then see how they feel!
I don’t know if law court rules work the same way over this as normal Superior and upper courts do but I and a few others I have heard were awarded SS. That normally sets a precedent throughout the system.
In fact because of my symptoms and the nature of the disorder mine was approved without a hearing…just a decision from a judge.
I explained to the lawyers to look up the very definition of the disorder; the fact that it generally is degenerative, it meets any criteria to have it before a judge without a hearing. The lawyers sent in in and it was done in 2 weeks.
The name of the firm I used was the Social Security Law Group. I was pointed to them by Prudential insurance who uses them. 98 percent win ratio. They are a team of lawyers that cover all states. On web at SSLG.com Remind them of my case so they don’t have to recreate the wheel. John Pierre filed 2007. If you need more info my e-mail is othellocop@ AOL.com
I used a firm based out of Everett call Russell Hill, they have a office in Spokane also. I was awarded disability after 7min into hearing. Asa lamusga was my attorney, he also helped after the hearing answering my questions even on evenings and weekends.
I also will offer my story of what we did to prepare to achieve success.
