Now the wonderful Bobs post gave me pause to think a little about all of the treatments I've heard being used over the years and not wanting to hijack his thread I thought I would add another one, cause some of these are just hillarious.
Now Before I start, I'm not going to write all of these off as hocus pocus, because some of them do have legitimate reasoning/logic behind them, but you can choose what and which you want to take stock in, all I can say is that I've not whole help for anything " alternative" for the true neuralgic pain.
Theres the aromatherapy, nope, did nowt for me, the pressure point massage, nope did nowt, accupuncture, I've heard mixed reports and most certainly wont write that off, I've also read a fascinating article about a form of permanent accupunture implant that's put into the ear, now being used to treat parkinsons which shows promise for TN, but the link eludes me at the moment.
I've tried chiropractic, but that did nothing other than sort out my period pain, so it wasnt a total bust, it has its place but it sure didn't fix the neuralgia for me, but it has for some.
I've tried heat and cold packs which were great for the ATN pain I was getting, but I was only getting that due to a reaction I was getting from ( irony of ironies) drugs I was taking for the neuralgia itself.
I've heard of the magnet therapy, which I haven't tried, then theres tens, but putting that on my head scares the beejeesus out of me so I never bothered with that, there's the new fangled contrapion that you wrap around your head and eyes and you look like geordie from star treck, and again that particular link eludes me, but it's not a TN specific gizmo
There are the supplements in their abundance, at least 2 diets, one with no saturated fat, and another which is designed as an anti inflamatory diet, which I believe some find useful at least for GPN.
I've heard of tangerine oil for GPN and also tonic water cause apparently there's some kind of magic voodoo in the quinine
Following on from that crikey............. I've read about people applying banana skin, others who have had allegedly had success from drinking fresh celery juice ( immediatley juiced mind, apparently it doesn't work otherwise!)
Then there's the laser med! Now last week while at work I had cause to discover a contraption called trifinity8........ now there's NOTHING there to say its a TN cure, and I'm not saying there is, but it sure sounds a whole lot like lazer med and with this for a measly 8k you get to BUY and KEEP all your rejuivinating crystals!
Just imagine 8k, and you get a bunch of USB powered crystals with a bunch of allegedly fancy schmansy algorithims all that came into existance after someone had the revelation that it would rejuivinate after a near death experience.......... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Are you picking up on my skepticism here? Now heres a link for this http://www.trinfinity8.com/anti-aging-product.php
I am by no means; at all; under any circumstances reccommending this for TN/GN or anything for that matter, I have nothing to do with the company, it was just that the laser med stuff coming up again reminded me of this particular company and I reckon it's only a matter of time before it starts getting reccomended for TN next.
I can't remember any other weird or not so wonderful cure alls that I've heard of recently but I'm sure more'll come to me, no doubt in the wee small hours of the night, but I thought a coupld of these might give you a chuckle or two. What other weird "alleged" alternative remedies are out there?
Much love as ever
