Acupuncture

Has anyone had luck with acupuncture to relieve TN pain?

Good morning, Osubucks1,

I have not had luck with acupuncture relieving pain, but my overall health is better and I believe my body's immunity is stronger from seeing my acupuncturist. I stick to her recommended Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diet and go for acupuncture monthly.

When my pain first started (6 months ago) and I could not eat or sleep, I would often fall asleep on the table during acupuncture. Something about it allowed me to relax, I guess.

Best of luck to you,

rissmal

I did try it for a little while but while one treatment worked the other caused a bad flare.
It was also very expensive as my insurance didnt cover it. If you have the means I would try it at least to see.
Hope this helps and you are feeling better soon.

I gave it 8-10 sessions and honestly I didn't notice anything one way or the other. I tried to find an acupuncturist who was familiar with TN, the woman I went to said she was, but then when I got there, she was thinking it was similar to TMJ. I would try and spend time researching to be sure the person actually has treated TN, and that they're not just saying they can help because they want the business. I am now in the process of trying to find a chiropractor that may be able to help. Good luck with your search!

Any updates on acupuncture treatment? I have a Groupon for an acupuncturist so I’m gonna try. I don’t do well on meds because I can’t function enough to work. I’m totally worthless 24/7 when on meds. I just tough out the pain and can’t function when I have TN attacks but at least the rest of the time I can when I’m not scared of having another flare up. So far chiropractic doesn’t do much for me. Surgery is not in the cards for me either so this is kinda my last hope. Any tips on what I should say to the acupuncturist that will make them understand better when I go in there?
