A new year, and hopefully some new beginnings

A quick little intro to me....

I'm a 25 year old musician - violinist, violist, pianist and composer - who, after many years of fighting the world of medicine to be heard, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and trigeminal neuralgia. For anyone who knows a bit about those diseases (which I know you all do), you'll know that as a musician and in general, they can take a devastating toll on your career, dreams and social life, sometimes becoming so bad that all you can manage is to stay in bed all day. I personally, often feel like I am a slave to my diseases, relying on all kinds of medicine, pharmaceutical and natural, to get me through my day and paying the consequences when I forget to take them. And also paying the consequences of taking them with all those brutal side effects.

I try my best to not let myself be defined by my diseases and whenever I can, I try to indulge in hobbies that I enjoy including hiking, photography, knitting and baking.

Cheers everyone,

Kelsey

Thank you, Jackie and Mimi.

Mimi - so good to meet a fellow Canadian! If you're ever visiting Vancouver, give me a shout and I'd love to have you over for tea or coffee. <3
