I've only been on the Tegretol for 3 months--taking 600 mg a day..I've been pain free-the neurologist has suggested that i start weaning myself off after 3 months..I see my family doctor at end of this month..has anyone gone thru this?? I'm sure the pain will come back-don't know why I can't stay on this forever..
I think that one may be hard on your liver - ask -
Remission comes and goes for some
Get off the med if you have to
and get some topical lidocaine patches for pain if you need them as needed
TN will come back

I did have to wean off of the Tegritol and what they had me do was to take it in the morning and then the new med (Gabapentin) at night for 3-4 days, then increase the Gabapentin to afternoon and night while still taking the Tegritol in the AM. Finally no Tegritol at all and Gabapentin 3x a day. It worked well as far as keeping the pain away and no side effects. I got off due to the side effects I learned about Teg. I hope everything goes as well for you.
