I was recently started on nuerontin and can't even work up to 100mg/day, having horrible side effects. I am very sensitive to meds, even OTC. The neuro said to stop neurontin and prescribed tegretol. I don't really get that because everything I have read says side effects of tegretoal are worse. Does anyone have a similar problem?
I am also extremely sensitive to meds I was on 200 mg of lyrics and was a walking zombie I honestly was not functioning and am no sure how I did for two months I was switched to tegeitol which I took one dose and then decided to research it more and realized I would rather be in pain then have that in my system so I am currently using Advil 400 mg 3 times a day it seems to help the throbbing of my arteries on the nerves it’s defiantly NOT gone but I’m
Functioning but my pain haven’t been as severe lately so I think I’m in a slight remission make sure it up front with your dr … I will be telling my dr everything at my next visit no more scary meds
i am allergic to Tegretol so I got put on gabapentin- Gabapentin stuffs around with my weight. One of my doctors has said it has effected my metabolism and that is why I can't lose weight.
This part is a little gross. I have been on Lyrica probably for 4 plus weeks now. All of a sudden this weekend I have shocking diarrhoea .I hope it's not due to the lyrics.Has anybody else experienced this. Or should the diarrhoea symptoms have started earlier
Hi Shann, I also occasionally take advil for the general headache that often accompanies my type IITN (esp. if I didnt keep to my meds schedule) The ibruprofen doesnt even touch the TN pain! For me it is only for tn induced pre-migraine pain, and for that it is a great drug. Yes, I am a stumbling, mumbling dizzy gabapentin zombie. I hate how it effects my life. But I havent had a remission in the pain yet and so far I really dont feel I have a choice.
I just wanted to mentions that longterm high dose ibuprofen (i.e: advil) does take a very high toll on your liver and especially kidney, so keep that in mind and let your doctors keep an eye on that. (some folks think "over the counter" means "absolutely safe" and mostly it is. But my doctors have told me to be very careful with it while I was being treated with it for something else and I think very few people know this!) If you are taking high doses, in addition to monitoring from a doctor remember to drink tons of water!
Hope you feel better soon,
Lynne
*I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv. ; )
