I have been considering ultra-sound for pain relief but the supplier of med equipment said the ones for sale through that company were not for facial pain but for soft tissue relief. Does anyone know where to purchase home med equipment ultra-sound with the correct frequency for facial pain?
I don't believe there are ultra-sound sets with a "correct frequency for facial pain". The face is quite a complex structure with pronounced density variations due to sinuses and airways. The literature for use of ultra-sound also seems very thin on the ground, even where relatively uniform tissue is involved in the arms and legs.
Likewise, I've talked with a number of patients over the years who have been advised against using a TENS unit in the vicinity of the face. I would recommend that you talk at some length with a doctor who is using these experimental devices, about their results, before making a decision to buy one on your own. There is a real potential for harm here if you happen to stimulate the peripheral nerves in a way that adds to the overall level of irritation and sensitivity.

I asked my doctor about a TENS unit several months ago, and he said for my particular case, he did not advise. I’m not sure why, I should have asked, but sometimes I have so many questions I have to pick and choose. I do trust his judgment though…
i used a TENS unit on my face for 20 minutes one night; the worst treatment decision i ever made. it exacerbated my pain for months.
