Twitches

I get twitch's around, and just above my right eye.

I'm on Lyrica, Immiprimine, and Morphine.

I do not have TN. I have GPN (similar, and rare), and a cavernous malformation in my Brain. Also have severe spondlosis of the Cervicle spine..

As Brian indicated, not painful, but very annoying.

I think this is a great topic. Some suspect the meds, others the condition. Maybe a bit of both? If it is perhaps associated with the condition, I find it interesting as I don't have TN. The GP nerve is a different cranial nerve, though it interacts with other nerve networks.

I had eye twitch's too. Doc shot a little Botox around outside of eye and Bam - no more twitching. Lasted about 6 months and we repeated. Just did MVD --so we will see what happens - hopefully done for good.

Yes, I get twitching on and off on my TN side around my eye and on my upper lip. I can get the twitching with or even without pain. I was told it’s the “tic” part of TN that some people get.

Hope so Baba, Do let us know.

I find it amazing how many people mention other tics and twitches....I get them all over. I have some other body wide ailment that they haven't figured out and thought it was part of that but there is a bit of correlation here. My fingers and hands will twitch badly at times. I get little tics all over...my chest, my back, legs arms. Sometimes my whole body jumps like I was hit with a shock, not very painful anyway, comparably. Interesting...This disease is kinda like falling down a rabbit hole.

I am in Baltimore scheduled for a MVD tomorrow. I currently take Topomax and Zanaflex to help with the pain and twitching. It helps but does not take it away. When the twitching which I think feels like small electrical shocks first started, I had no idea what what going on. It also affects my speech and for someone reason my tongue. I also take a SSRI which I am sure also helps. When things I really bad, I put a Lidoderm patch on my face. Nothing ever takes the shocks and pain completely away. I am hoping the surgery will. Has anyone tried a muscle relaxer? I was thinking of asking for one. Lately it has been for hours at a time constantly twitching.....driving me absolutely mad,

Somedayz I twitch everywhere, other dayz it's only the hands/fingers and kinda radiates up to the shoulders...drives me nuts! Sometimes I do a flexeril/xanax cocktail to calm things down.

Be sweet to yourselves my itchy, twitchy sisters and brothers!

I had the same problem a year after I was diagnosed. It helped not to wink, smile real hard, or to squint. Also, I had it checked out by a optometrist just to be sure and he is monitoring my ocular veins. One looked enlarged, but has gone back to normal. My conclusion is that TN can cause facial swelling and it can cause the muscles, veins, nerves in the eye to act up.

thanks for asking, and thanks everyone for the answers. Again I thought this was only me, and come to find out you all share it too. Not glad that we have this twitching annoying thingy but glad I'm not alone. May you sleep twitch and pain free. blessings~~

Hi I get twitches in and around my eyes, Right one more than the left. I've found if you stretch the muscle out by gently putting pressure on it, it resyncs it. Can take a few hours, but eventually will settle it down. Particularly the eye muscle near the orbit. Sounds silly, but I poke my finger above the eyeball and gently hold it there for a while. Hope this helps. :)

Yes, I have found that applying pressure to the twitching muscle under my eye helps. Thanks to all. I’m still going to ask my Dr about a muscle relaxant.

Hi Brian. Yes I have always had accompanying twitches in my face. Mine have developed into hemifacial spasm in recent months. All part of a the condition I think as it worsens over time. Much love Helen

I've had them in my left eyelid for the last several months. Nothing seems to help. Any ideas anyone?

Botox… botox for everyone! Its really helped with my spasms. Good luck.x

Helen,

Does your neurologist do the Botox or a dermatologist? Linda
