Anyone tried this?
I'm on it right now. I've been on the 'regular' one for a while now. And just recently changed to the time release version of it. Can't really tell if it's working yet because our weather has been so weird.... windy every other day (like gusts in the 50 mph range), cold one day (like 5 degrees and lows in the negatives) - warm the next (like 45 degrees and lows in the 30s). I'm a TN Type II pain sufferer. So, it can last all day, everyday.
I also get migraines... and when I do, nothing stops the TN pain.
This is such a strange 'disorder' and SO different for everyone.
I also get foggy (both visually and mentally) with my pain. It isn't associated with meds. I was foggy with the pain before I was on any meds. No one else that I've chatted with has that. So, I guess I'm special in that way. LOL
I've been on Gabapentin for a while. I tried Cymbalta too... it threw my sleep pattern off. I've tried Magnesium.
Nothing seems to completely work... but, still trying. I won't give up yet.
Hoping they come up with some special med that helps most of us...
Hugs and Heart to all of us,
Sara
I was on Trileptal after my Trigeminal surgery, I am sorry to say it did not help my pain.
Ive been on the generic trileptal since 2008 started out with 300mg than 1800mg a day. Lowers my sodium big time and now moving onto keppra but the keppra doesn't seem to work. Trileptal helped but had side effects, Typical nausea, dizziness, and zombieness. But the pain went away. New neuro said the lower sodium can cause paralysis or something so now im taking keppra and getting MRI with contrast to get ready for gamma knife surgery if possible.
Hi Missy. I was on Trileptal for sharp stabbing pains in my eye I was having in my eye with a year long headache I was having (not my TN, but nerve pain related). It seemed to help with the sharp stabbing pains a lot, just not the rest of the headache, so I stopped taking it. So it was successful, but not for a chronic migraine. Does that make any sense? Best of luck to you!
Hi,
I was on Trileptal for over five years and found in effective, but I had to change as the medication was causing really bad nightmares. I was on 1200 mg (600 morning and night). A side effect of the medication is acne, so I was put on a daily Amoxicillin along with two topical gels as I wasn’t spared from that side effect. I would recommend the medication and I noticed that they just came out with Trileptal extended release.
I have tried it and it is very sedating...It is hard to work on this medication
I was instantly out of pain with trileptal with only 900mg (450am/450pm). Tegretol did nothing for me. I was pain free on trileptal for 18.mo and then pain came back with a vengeance. Between Sept.- Nov. my neuro upped my meds to 2700mg trileptal and added 40mg baclofen. Absolutely no relief. All that said, I had no side effects at all from either med and love love love trileptal for giving me the 18 months.
I am switching from Tegretol to Trileptal. Checking to see if side effects are better. Have been on Tegretol for 1 1/2 years maintaining. Work has been tolerant, but was informed time has come to find another way to cope or find other options, disability, new employment. So, here's looking forward to better side effects.
