Wondering if anyone has had success with Trileptal only for Type 2?

I'll be interested to see what others say. I'm taking Tegetrol and I can't decide...it works, but seems like not for long and I don't want to keep taking more. My doctor said he will only let me go up to 800 mg/day and I'm already at 600.
Did Trileptal ever work for you? I've been on it almost a month at 300mg/day and just had another bad episode which makes me feel like it's not working at all. I've not had any bad side effects from it which is about the only good news.
my doctor said tricyclic antidepressants are more appropriate for TN2 than tegretol and he put me on nortriptyline.

Is Nortiptyline working well for you? Does it give you any bad side effects?
i just started it so too early to tell, but this forum is filled with experiences with nortriptyline and amitriptyline, try a search.
Hopefully more senior members with TN2 will give their comments also.
