Trileptal for ATN

My doctor got me off my tegretol because he thought my liver enzymes were a bit high and I was reading on here that the folks with ATN had great results with trilieptal. I remember when I took 300 mg of tegretol it made my pain worse it was the oddest thing and dropped the dosage to 50 mg and it became a god send. I have a good feeling about Trileptal and its ability to get me off these other meds. Really just want to take one. How do you feel about trileptal?

I couldn’t tolerate tegretol either and my neurologist put me on Trileptal. Just like he said, it has the benefits but none of the side effects…at least for me. I also take Baclofen and Elavil. You’ll notice there are a lot of different medications for trigeminal neuralgia and atypical trigeminal neuralgia. I’ve had this disease for about 20 years. For the longest time I haven’t had many problems. This past month, however hasn’t been good for me. I’ve come back to this site to see if there are any new treatments or medications other than what I take now. I had two Gamma knife surgeries. One was more accurately a Leksel surgery. Unfortunately the pain has returned.

Thank you for reaching out to me. I’m having luck on 150 mg. I get sleepy and walk funny. I thought I wore out the soles of my gym shoes but didn’t. I take the same meds as you but the tripital is the base that make the meds all work together.

I’m sorry this last month has been hard for you. 20 years is so long my heart reaches out to you. Thanks fir your help
