I have been diagnosed with TN1 & TN2 I have been having a problem with excess saliva & my throat aches a feel tight and gland in my neck swollen my shoulder & neck muscles constantly hurt. I have been having these symptoms even before my TN symptoms started. They thought it was a food allergy considering it gets worse after eating. I have been tested and have no food allergies plus after going on the gabapentin for my TN it is a lot better. I was wondering if anyone out there has any of the same symptoms,
It is possible that you have Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia. I am not medically trained but have read a bit here on site. It may be worth you asking a Dr about that for elimination purposes. It runs along with TN I beleive
Thank you Jackie I was wondering about Glosspharyngeal Neuralgia and if it runs along with TN I do not have the severe pain in my throat but the glands are swollen and ache.. When I was not on gabapentin I thought it wasa food allergy it had been bothering me for years and getting worse most of the time when I ate I would get excess saliva and mucus. My throat would get to where it felt tight it is much better now that I am on gabapentin So I am thinking it must be related to my TN
I have been seeing specialists for Similar issues -- I have been tested for autoimmune diseases like lupus and Sojourns.
My salivary glands and throat have been off and on weird since around time of TN --- steroids make it better -- but cannot stay on those
I think I have come to the conclusion -- since bad oral health care - because of TN --- my jawbones, cells inside my mouth - end up causing problems in saliva that affect my throat and glands
This was also an educated guess on the part of a specialist......now I can brush my teeth regular again -- this should help I hope!
