Hi Annie, I've tried both acupuncture and dry needling. Acupuncture didn't do much, but did help some residual pain from tension in neck. I would never recommend dry needling to anyone!!!! Started a horrible flare that lasted about a week.
When I first started with TN in 2008 I went to an acupuncturist and after 2 months of going every week. My pain was gone and stayed away, until last year in September it came back and acupuncture has not helped it this time.
I’m so glad I found this I had people suggest acupuncture was going to try but after reading this na ill pass
My neurologist asked if I was interested in a referral to a acupuncturist. She had one patient with TN that found it very helpful. But my neurologist said several times that she would only recommend this specific acupuncturist which suggested that maybe if you go this route you find someone recommended by your neurologist or someone that has experience with TN. If Ms Minny above got 4 years of relief that seems like a great value proposition. I should follow up on this recommendation with the acupuncturist but since I have been pain free the last few days its like I just want to believe it is going away of its own. LOL! Big Smiles. Tina
I went to accupuncturist for 2 months for the hospital. Did not help. It was worth a try. My insurance partially paid for it.
I tried acupuncture. It didn't help. It was relaxing until on the 4th appt. the acupuncturist treated just under my ear, on my neck which is I believe the base of the trigeminal nerve. It really flared up my symptoms for about a week. I would not let an acupuncturist get close to that area again.
recovering from car accident whiplash. Just an update. I seem to be getting some relief from neck pain and face pain by Graston technique. A form of deep muscle massage done by chiropracter or PT. It breaks up scar tissue . Im getting neck and back done.Seems to be really working so far. Check it out as med free alternative treatment.
Ive used accupuncture in the past to relieve muscle spasms. I found a TENS unit did about the same as accupuncture. Get your own and have it avaliable when you need it. medicalproductsonline.com 50-60$
