Tooth removal

Has anyones TN been triggered by wisdom tooth removal?

Usually you get your teeth removed because you have tn. Most times the tooth itself is fine but due to the pain from the Tn many people have teeth removed. In and includubing myself. I have had two teeth removed that the dentist begged me not to get rid of. Two different dentist told me that the teeth were fine but I insisted. Then they still hurt the exact same way after they were pulled.

ihad no pain at all until after the removal.my problem beforehand was infection around the tooth and my dentist said it would be better to pull it rather than been on an antibiotic every month as th infection kept returning.all my teeth have very deep roots wisdom teeth especially

I wonder about that sometimes, because my wisdom teeth removal was botched and cracked on the side before removal on the side of onset of my symptoms in 2003.

I keep on wondering what could have caused my Atypical TN pain, and I cannot say that the extraction of my wisdom teeth and the re-shaping of my mouth afterward (because they had almost erupted by the time I was able to have them removed) has not crossed my mind.

Hmmm . . . .

All my problems started with a root canal that went real bad. I was convinced by a dentist to remove all my root canal teeth replace all my fillings and get an old impacted wisdom tooth out.

The wisdom tooth extraction went reals bad..The pain in my face was unreal for months and then I ended up having another and another tooth out an massive infection and finally sinus surgery.

One botched root canal 4 or 5 years ago lead to lead to depression pain failing health and a lot us unnecessary surgeries that caused only greater problems. Oh I wish I had all this knowledge years ago.

I may have been predisposed to problems because the impacted wisdom tooth was way up in my sinus cavity. The Oral surgeon that I last went to fix some of these issues was horrified that anyone would suggest taking this tooth out (Which never bothered me) and he was the one that suggested trigeminl neurologis and sent me to the neorologist. I think therre is just not enough information out there and a lot of Dentists are either ignorant or disbelievers, This experience has changed my life for good and for bad. I can no longer be a workaholic. I practise yoga and meditation and am focusing on things importatnt in my life I have ignored for years.

I was so depressed for several years thinking I was dying of some unknown cause that none of the doctors i went to could figure out. I am starting to feel human again and am so thankful to realize there are others out there that have been through the same thing and that I am not alone or crazy.

Stacy, please be aware that the Laser Med Center has the weakest form of certification that the FDA grants: the technique probably won’t hurt you. But there is no validated data that confirms the technique will help. Moreover, the procedure is not coded and is not reimbursable by health insurance. Their “protocol” comprises multiple laser exposures over a period of days, and costs thousands of dollars.

Thanks Richard I did find this out upon further investigation. But you know I’m just grasping at straws. The doctors want me to get the surgery because even on meds my pain is constant. However I have looked at the many different outcomes patients have had and am not impressed. It is getting scary for me now.
