Anyone with atypical pain get teeth pulled after the pain started? My neurologist said absolutely do not do it, saying if you have nerve pain in the face, cutting out teeth more likely than not will cause more nerve pain.
When the TN first started I initially went to the dentist, who referred to oral surgeon, who did a big x-ray and said everything is where it should be, nothing compacted like I imagined I was feeling. He referred me to neurology.
It really feels like a tooth moved up into my nasal area and was poking everything, but 3 mri's, a ct, and x-rays show there's nothing physically there pushing on anything.
The first MRI did reveal granulomous inflammation in the area, on the T-nerve behind the eye and nasal cavities. Steroids took it away but the pain never went away.
So I actually have 2 teeth I could get removed on the side with pain. One is a wisdom tooth that hasn't come in, and is right around the pain in my jaw.
The second tooth is actually right between my 2 front teeth...up in the gums. It's an extra tooth, and I do have a lot of nerve pain above it and to the left, from my upper lip up to the eye.
But then I also have a lot of pain deeper in the face, not near any teeth.
So I'm wondering has anyone removed teeth after the facial pain started and did it cause more damage?
