I am writting this post from France (Paris) so excuse my english if it is not good as it should be.
It seems that according to your english classification I have TN type 2 as it is atypical.
My trigger zones are in the upper and bottom gum, and near nose on the right face. This is driving me insane as eating, drinking, speaking start a pain which I described as a huge burn.
I have a treatment which consists in 1600 mg of Tegretol but there are no improvement.
Where I have this trigger zone all my teeth have been treated.
So I wonder if this TN is not caused by what we called electrical galvanism.
Hi noware, I think we all are searching for the reason for our TN. If we could just know the reason sometimes it would be easier to handle I think. I do know that analgram fillings in teeth can actually act like a battery when it mixes with your saliva producing an electrical charge that is more than twice that of the normal body. These electrical charges can affect how nerves function. Hope this helps!! ((HUGS)) to you in France!!
Bonjour mon ami, j'mappelle Jackie. That is the extent of my poor school girl French. I adore Paris, my youngest daughter's middle name is Paris as she is beautiful also. What a shame you have this agony in that wonderful city. If you have no improvement on 1600mg of Tegretol I can only suggest you re-visit your Dr/neuro. You should have relief at that level which is on the large side. You may need to try another medication (there are many to try) to gain help. All meds take a few weeks to work well, if you feel you have given it a good trial period ( 2-3 weeks) then it is not the drug to help you.
