TN symptoms?

Has anyone experienced the muscles in the right side of your neck tighten or seize? Also, I have a large knot behind my ear that is not painful to the touch. I had it checked out about 3 yrs ago by a ears, nose, throat dr who said it was nothing.....its pretty big. I'm wondering if this is TN related or something entirely different.

I am on meds, and am having my atlas checked which has helped tremendously.....was just wondering if other people had these problems.

Greetings teerex10,

I have a tightness in my neck and under my chin. The tighter my neck would get the worse the attacks would be. On the worst days it would get so tight that it will pull my head down and to the left which is my tn side. I always have some tightness under my chin and when it starts to go to my neck I massage it to loosen it up which I believe it helps to avert some attacks.

I don't have any lumps but I do get a muscle spasm under my chin that tighten s up into a knot that hurts when it happens.

Scott,

I have the same. Massaging under my chin and neck does help to prevent a flare up. In a weird way, I am glad to know it's associated with TN and not some new issue.

Carolyn

Carolyn,

I also you hydro therapy from the jets on a hot tube/spa when I can and that really helps. It is nice to know that I am not the only one with this effect of tn. I am also glad that it is not some other new issue, we have enough to deal with without some other weird thing showing up! I wonder how many others have this also.

Scott

the last month i feel like a constany "pinch" in my neck

also - i noticed WITH the meds - that i get MORE tense muscles. could it be from the meds you are on ?

Greetings teran,

If you think you have a lymph node that is swollen, it might need to be drained. I have mine drained as needed and it takes the swelling down. There is a website that lists therapist and how much training they have and I can share that with you if you are interested.

Carolyn,
I have the exact same thing. It was that problem that originally took me to the doctor. The large muscle that extends from my head, in front of my ear down to my shoulder is incredibly tight and there is a large lump, like a swollen lymph node that sits on top. I have found menthol patches to help as long as I don't get them too close to my face, and regularly stretching my neck to give some relief. Please keep me updated if you find anything else out or find some more remedies to share.

Carolyn,

The large lump behind your ear is a lymph area..my right side regular fills up from chronic sinus issues so I regularly milk it down by gently stroking it downward toward my collarbone and it helps to drain it.
