TN since 1996 with allergy to Tegretol. Having a very hard time! Dr issue?

Over the years I’ve had numerous surgeries, procedures and medications. Now my “pain specialist” doctor is treating me like a mental case. I have a pain pump containing Baclofen and morphine with oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Nothing is working now. It’s really wearing me down. Do I need a new approach? All ideas welcome…this was under control for a long time.

Firstly …RUN to another doctor !
. You apparently are being treated with TN under an ass!

! Looks like you have been off here about a year. Glad you came back…but sorry your pain came with you! : (

I have a list of 30+ meds and combos I got from many here in last two years if you want that list.

MVDs dates and results?.
. I didn’t see any. You can be an MVD candidate even since gamma.

Have you read…probably …STRIKING BACK by dr ken Casey?

Too many ideas to list there.

Lets start there. : )

Kc Dancer kc: yes, read it when it first came out. It was my bible…I put it somewhere safe but can’t remember where! Would love to see your list. I don’t believe I’m a candidate for MVD …just had a medical incident related to Lyrica and I nearly died. I am just depressed that I am experiencing this horrible pain once again. My “pain doc” thinks my pain is caused by my oxycodone…that the pain is worse, need more oxy, more pain, more oxy. This just blows me away. Never heard of such a thing. I am having a hard time concentrating as the pain is so debilitating. I guess I was hoping there was something new out there that might work for me. Neurontin was one of many I tried…up to 4000mg before my doctor tossed it aside. So YES again…I would love to see a link to your list if possible. Thanks for your prompt reply.

Oh yes....run to another DR. Sounds as tho this Dr does not understand TN or the awful pain. Pain meds have never worked for my TN, other than to knock me out for a while, no effect on TN pain. Definitely look at the list KC Dancer has, take to new Dr. I know, especially in pain, it is hard to think of finding a new Dr, but sounds like what you need. Remember you deserve care and not to be treated badly. I am on Gabapentin (Neurotin), depending on the day and pain I increase or decrease dosage, the past few weeks have been having a lot of breakthrough, so I just take med as I need it. Anything to try and stop the pain, sometimes I just have to take a time out and just sit very still till the strikes stop. Thinking of you and please let us know.

I wonder how well your "pain specialist" would be dealing with a diagnosis of TN since 1996! Sounds like you need another doctor. In any event, sometimes a fresh set of eyes can come up with something that works! I also agree that just lying down in whatever position is best for you and listening to soothing music, or whatever can divert your attention, can sometimes help. I hope you get some relief soon!
