TN on NBC

Saw a video on TN and MVD surgery on NBC news tonight. My darling wife thought it was a new procedure and they made it sound like it was the cure all for TN. Had to chase it down on the NBC web site. Found out it was MVD. My spouse wanted me to contact the Doctor that was featured and it took a while for me to convince her that we have already been there. To much danger to my one good eye. It was a disappointment.

Was this the piece about the doctor in Houston? My grandmother called and told me to look it up because this guy had found a cure for TN.

He is actually in UT but the story was so vague that I thought he was in CA. They did not say MVD surgery but after looking at the web site and putting it all together, yeah it was MVD, and they did make it sound like they finally had the cure for TN and we could all rejoice. That was why my darling spouse was so disappointed once we got to the truth of the story.

What's important to remember is that there's no such thing as bad publicity. People are actually talking about TN on mainstream television -- that is an important step in the right direction.

Sorry your wife was so disappointed. :(

I saw the spot when it aired. While, I was excited to see TN in the news, on primetime I, too, was disappointed as the spot didn’t name the surgery and the story did make it sound like MVD is a cure. The primary disappointment for me was that they made it sound like the woman was a drug dependent addict, without clarifying which medications she was taking. This frustrated me as many of already have enough difficulty getting medications that we need which may or may not have certain stigmas attached to them. My two cents.
