Hello everyone. I am still pretty new to TN, diagnosed 6 months ago. After my initial attack I was given territory and developed cutaneous vasculitis in reaction to it. That was terrible. Then I was put on baclofen. After getting the attack knocked down I was able to just take a half of baclofen when I felt any tingling in sensitivity in my face and it took care of it. Gradually my sensitive times have increased and I've had to take more. I'm now on 2 and a half baclofen daily and yesterday it was three. It works and I'm glad, but makes me very dizzy, sleepy and confused. So here's the kicker... I am the caregiver for my husband who has stage 4 (incurable) lung cancer. Though I've had fibromyalgia for many years, I did not have TN until after my husband went through his initial treatment. It has to be related to the stress. My husband has been in remission for a year but recently was found to have a recurrence of his cancer. Treatment starts this week. And I can feel my face doing little tingling things. The corner of my nose feels weird which is a new sensitivity spot. I'm just generally freaked out that the TN is going to be a problem during his treatment. We don't have a lot of help. I know I need to go to my doc and get another appointment with the neurologist. Any feedback would be appreciated!
Obviously, the drug I had a reaction to wasn't "territory". It was tegretol. Lol!
Hi Mighty..I'm sorry you're handling so much tough stuff..But sounds as if you and your husband are fortunate to have each other during this painful time in your lives. Because the both of you are suffering from serious medical conditions,, my guess is that it enables you to empathize with each other in a deeper way than many.
If you go to the little search box located in the upper right hand corner of the page and type in stress, it will link you to helpful commentary posted by Members of our Community. In addition to whatever spiritual or non-spiritual sources I use for mindful strength, I, personally, find the words provided by Members of our Community to be most helpful. We are not alone.
I'm glad you have a lol..attitude towards "territory" and "tegretol" any smile helps. I tried to turn the TV channel with my phone, yesterday. ( my daughter's new smartphone actually can do that. I better get one so I won't look so silly the next time..lol)
