Well I’m in the middle of prognosis am having a MRI tomorrow. Meantime I’ve started Tegretol. When does it start to kick in?
Hello,
From what I've read it takes tegretol a couple weeks to really start working and to build up in your system...Good luck with your MRI..
i noticed it helping in about 4 days, but then got a rash and had to stop;-]
I found some relief after about four days. All the best.
Everyone is different, but for me it took a couple of weeks to improve a little, then I had to slowly increase my tegretol over a couple of weeks until I was at a level where I was pain free. I hope it doesn’t take you too long to get your pain under control.
Thanks guys I guess that’s why the neurologist wants me to stay on Plaquenil till tegretol kicks in. I was put on plaquenil by a derm he couldn’t figure out what was going on. Plaquenil worked but I took myself of it and then restarted at a smaller dose.
I used to have a pituitary tumor hence they will be also looking to see if that has grown back and causing problems.
I’m kind of anxious,
Mine kicked in within 8 hours!
By the second week when I doubled the dose. I've developed a slight rash, but I'm holding off telling my doctor because I am loving this pain free time.
I agree Maureen when the pain is lifted its magic.
Well I’m on day 2 of meds and my pain has subsided substantially!! I was able to put make up on
I am really happy to read that you all are getting relief. I am switching from Lyrica to Tegratol because the Lyrica had stopped helping. I am on Pramidol for two weeks while the Tegratol builds up and have been really worried that the Tegratol wouldn't work and this unspeakable pain would continue. You give me hope.
Good luck Cassie! Hope you get as good of results with it as I have. Now I have had to have increases until I got to a good dosage, but since December I have done good on 1200 a day............so good that I have weaned down to 1000 a day for the last week. I am going to stay at that dose for a month or 2 and see how I do because I have noticed more tingling on the lower dose. Don't want to go down to 800 and end up in the floor!

Good luck Cassie. I know the feeling its absolute murder. I have had 4 children and I would rather be in labor than have this pain
