I Currently take 600mg of trileptal (oxcarbazepike) and for the past 3 months have been taking 30mg of cymbalta (duloxetine).
I am about to stop taking the cymbalta and add Clonazapam (paxam).
The neuro told me to just stop the cymbalta cold and when I spoke to the pharmacist they seemed surprised.
For those that have previously taken cymbalta what advice were you given on stopping this medication.
Thanks for any help, I certainly don’t need any more problems than I’ve got lol.
Hi all,
Just thought I would post an update in case it is of use to anyone in the future.
As directed by the neuro I stopped the cymbalta cold and after 4 days I have had horrible side effects. Crying spells, lack of coordination, difficulty walking, anxiety, sweating and nausea.
I saw my GP this afternoon and he was horrified that I had not been tapered off the cymbalta. He has left a message with the neuro and is hoping to speak with him tomorrow to let him know unwell I am feeling.
I live and learn but these days I could do with a few less lessons.
Already looking for another neuro, I won’t be going back to that professor of misery.
I was a blubbering mess in the gp’s office this afternoon and throughout my incoherent sobbing I kept saying “I want to get a new neuro”. Probably stupid thing to be worrying about st the time but I need someone that is not going to make matters worse.
My poor mum,who is 86 was so upset when she saw me today. It’s not just the patient that is affected by medical misadventures, the whole family suffers.
Thanks for your concern, it’s been a tough few days.
