Steroids, Migraines and TN/ATN

I have been doing very good since my MVD 9 months ago. My TN and ATN are nearly gone. Last Monday I got a very bad headache and migraine. On Thursday my neurologist prescribed steroids to try to get rid of the pain. It's been 7 days since the pain started. It is a little better, but not by much. On Saturday, 2nd day of steroids, I started getting a few TN stabs. I'm still getting it occasionally.

Do steroids aggravate TN? I don't know if I'm getting shocks because of the steroids or if it's due to my migraine and headache.

I’m not sure to be honest. I did use a short acting round of steroids when my TN and the pain levels took a turn for the worse at beginning of August. These did seem to clam down the pain for the tn but aggregated the poops out of my fibro. I thin it may depend on the type of steroid and what these are designed to target. The one I took recently were to target nerve inflammation. Sorry I can be of more help. Ask your neuro about it or better pharmacist they later will most likely be more knowledgable. You can also do a search on steroids in the discussion area, and there is also a group for migraines and TN, you may be able to find a solution there that might work better if you still are having trouble with the migraine. I hope this helps a little bit for you. Hope you have a great day that is pain free.

I had a round of prednisone with my TN2. I also have migraines. I have not had MVD. I think my steroid was prescribed because I might have been having inflammation from my TMJ that triggered a flare up. It seemed to help the actual TMJ, but I had to start hydrocodone and gabapentin for the pain of TN.
