Headaches/Migraines

Anyone else here also deal with migraine headaches? I have dealt with them since I was 15 (i'm 24 now) and recently the doctor that treats them said they may be related to the TN. Anyone hear of this?

yes most defently! I have had tn for 20 years...it started with what I thought was migraines, the dr.s are not sure if its really part of my tn or not.. However a year ago April I asked to be started on lyrica and within two weeks, I noticed that my migraines where getting further apart..within two monthes they are now 85% better... It has been a great mediation What type of TN do you have. would love for you to post back! would love to chat, soft hugs Dawn

Hi there,

Yes I can relate. I've had migraines since age 14 and I'm 54 now. I have ATN, it started in 2012 when I was 52. The migraines are now worse than ever and the neurologist told me the same thing your doctor told you. Makes sense to me, just wish it wasn't happening.

I have both type 1 and type 2. Mainly in the v2 and v3 branches on my left side. I have tried a bunch of the meds (including lyrica) and due to other health issues, not really able to tolerate the higher doses needed to control the pain. I have had two SphenoCath blocks, which did more for the headaches than they did for the TN. Would highly recommend them for migraine type headaches. Currently I am scheduled for MVD on 12/17. Hoping that eases the type 1 pain a bit. I can honestly deal with headaches better than tn. I am a medical physics student, so being doped up does me no good. What all have you found that works?

It would be helpful if the doctors could figure out how to help us!

I don't have migraines, only occasional headaches.

From the strangest things TN related, I had something that feels like headache, but affects only half of the head (the TN side).

yes, I think the migraines go one on one with the TN. I take Imitrex and it kills the migraine. I see you have possible heart contradictions because it has a heart and blood pressure mechanism with the 5-ht agonist effects. But regardless I can say it works for me.
