Hello, since I am farely new to this but realised that a supportive environment is from importance I wondered if there is anyone from South Africa or Namibia?
Hello carmen. Yes I am from south africa. Gauteng area. This sickness sucks hey? Are you english or afrikaans?
How long did the lyrica take to work? I am almost 2 weeks now. Started out the first week with 25mg in the morning, 25mg afternoon and at night 75mg. Dr increased dose to 50mg,50mg,100mg.
Hello Jurie,
nice to meet you. I am from Namibia. Actually Germany but live since 9 years in Namibia.
Yes, you can say that out loud. TN sucks. Actually in big words. SUCKS. :) I am still quite new in this. Although they suspect TN with me since over one year, I am still waiting the final report from the neurologist in Cape Town.
But since a year I am on the TN medication and the neurologist suspects TN Type 2. Which means I don't have attacks I have the pain 24 h/ day. What do you have?
The lyrica was for me the wonder medication. Some say it is either a hell medication and other's love it. For me it starting working very well from the start. I am still on 75mg twice a day. But it seems I have to update my dose sooner or later. The pain is becoming worse again. Although I try to leave that as much as possible and rather live with a bit of pain than run out of ideas in 10 years because my body got so used to all the meds and nothing works anymore.
It took about 2 weeks to have effect on me. An other person who has extremely TN also gave me the advise to really take it on the minute exactly on the day at the same time. So your body is getting used to it. That means if it is 5 in the afternoon you have to stick to it. This actually works very good. Your body becomes kind of trained when it is time. At about 3 my body is going viral and pain is starting to become really heavy. I bite through and take mine at 5. My body than knows it is that time and pain rather quickly goes manageable again. I don't know if this is rather psychological or really the body getting used, but it helped me a great deal.
Hi Carmen. I am also new at this. I only got diagnose with neuralgia 2 weeks ago. But had this pain for about 7 months. No DR could help me, some even said nothing was wrong with me. I am currently searching for the cause. I guess it has to do with my implant. Yes I also think i have TN 2 because my pain is also constant. Hopefully the lyrica will get to work soon. Wednesday it will be 2 weeks that I am on the meds. My pain is around my bottom lip. Where do you have pain and what do you think caused it? Really nice to hear from someone that understands the ordeal we are in. O so you are german, what brings you to namibia?
Is your condition permanent or will it heal in time?
