So upset, went to the er

I went to the er with ear pain off the charts, I felt like they really blew me off. They gave me a prescription of 12, 5/325 Norco and 2 Prednisone. Last time I went to the hospital I was hurting a little less than today and was given a shot of morphine, a muscle relaxer and 30, 10/325 norco.I don't know why such different treatment it was the same hospital. I left crying and still in horrible pain.

So sorry to hear this...What part of TX are you in? There is a good Facial Pain Specialist in The Woodlands, North of Houston, that understands TN. I understand your frustration with all this. If you would like the info just email me anytime.

I live in Cleveland texas, I am seeing a neurologist in woodlands, scheduled to see a neurosurgeon this week also in the woodlands. What specialist are you talking about? Thank you!

Hello Love Texas:

I know what you mean. It took almost 3 years of going to specialist after specialist to be diagnosed with Geniculate Neuralgia. You might want to read up on that and see if it matches your symptoms.

Well we are not so far apart, I am in North Spring, please let me know if you need any help at all or maybe we could get together sometime :) I am speaking of The Center For Facial Pain, on Medical Plaza Drive, 281-296-6797. They do not take insurance, but a consultation is not too bad and they can help in Neuro referrals. Very understanding. I went years without a diagnosis, lost a lot of teeth, bummer, but once I went there they knew and got me on meds. I have not been back in a while as I was blessed with a DR that will RX Gabapentin for me, but at least this was a starting point! Seriously, if you need someone who understands to go to an appt with you I am here. I have a lot going on with a disabled hubby at the young age of 52 and my TN, but I also dont work so have the ability to help and would love too. And if ya like dogs have a pretty good place to come relax :) Knopw the frustration of pain coupled with the Docs and insurance can overwhelm, you are not alone!

Thank you so much you are so sweet! I know where you are talking about, but sounds like I had a different experience with them then you did, they misdiagnosed me with tmj, and wanted me to pay 3000$ up front for splint therapy, if it wasn’t for them I might have had my TN diagnoses sooner.
Anyway maybe we can get together sometime, although lately I haven’t wanted to leave my bed. Thanks for the sweet reply!

Thank you Smash, I have read about GN and it does sound more like what I have, were you ever able to get it under control?

I just had my MVD and am still recovering.

Go into the Neuro's with as many questions as possible. You need to be prepared because it is YOU who will diagnose yourself. You need to describe what you have in every detail. I wrote down the symptoms as I could, that way I didn't have to repeat myself every new specialist. I would just give them the paper, and let them read it.

I hope you get relief soon.

Thank you so much!

Thats a bummer of an experience! Guess I got lucky in the Dr I saw. Hope you get help and relief really soon. I know how it feels not to want to get out of bed, have those days, but with 3 Saint Bernards when those big brown eyes look at ya and bring ya a leash I get up, they are truly a blessing for me!
