I woke up from a nap yesterday and for about 2 hours i could not see, my vision was so blurry i couldn't even walk. My mom said my face got swollen and my eyes were very very red. I was hysterically crying and having panic attacks because i felt like i was going blind :( i was Rushed to ER and was told it was not a reaction to my amitripyline (meds) and its a symptom of Trigeminal neuralgia or a warning sign...Has anyone else ever been through that? OMG it was so scary and i diddnt know what to do, thank god my mom and grandma were home. I'm scared to drive now. Waiting to go see a doctor tom or Tuesday...any support or knowledge is appreciated..<3 you guys!
Never had that, but sometimes my ear gets really red and hot. Good luck to you!
Hi Jen,
I was an amitriptyline for 18 months with no side effects. I don’t know if you also take tegretol. I was on the maximum dose of tegretol and my vision was really badly affected, really blurry on occasion.
Regards
Jim
Hi Jen,
I get the blurry/refracted vision but only in my right eye, the side that's effected by the TN, which can make things a bit awkward when I have to close my "bad" eye, to allow me to focus on things!:-) I am not on either amiyriptyline or tegretol, so it's not that with me. I know where you're coming from tho', emotionally...it can drive you to the very edge, I did recently have a 6 year long remission so there is always a chance that it could disappear, however, believe me, I can appreciate why you would think that the surgery would be the best option/cure all. Just be sure that you've researched it & your surgeon fully...you're very young & from what I've read, it doesn't always work the way it's supposed to. As the other have said on here tho', you're not alone! We're all here! To quote the famour Bill Withers song, Lean on me...
Sometimes in our lives We all have pain, we all have sorrow
But if we are wise We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me when you're not strong And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
(ok, I know it's usually more than sometimes but then Mr Withers never had TN! :-) <3)
