Have any of you ever felt like a prisoner in your home. I feel like that right now. The temps. where I live right now are -20 below and I am scared to go outside b/c I know it will make my pain kick in. I is suppose to be like this until Tuesday. I am scared b/c I have to go to work on Monday and I know by the end of the day of Monday from going outside I will be crying from the pain. I really hate this disease and how it at times takes control of my life.
When I go out all you can see is my eyes, the cold does still get through though. Even when feeding the birds I have to dress like that. Yes I do feel like a prisoner. It is nowhere near as cold here as with you. I put scarfs on the radiator to heat up before going out. I have heat pads that I put in the microwave when I return home. It does contorl your life. I look at myself in the mirror sometimes with my face nearly covered and I have to laugh, I look awful, but who cares.
i know the feeling and im sorry. this disorder really does suck and controlls every aspect of your life. if you need to vent im here
Lena,
I'm sorry you're having such pain. Yes, I know the prisoner feeling. Have you tried the neoprene masks? They come in all types from the kind that just covers the nose and lower face to the one that just has an area cut out for the eyes. There's a vent for the nose on mine. I have the first kind. You can order them online (mine cost $15.00) or you could find them at bikers' stores. Bikers use them for riding their motorcycles in cold weather. At any rate, it's amazing how much warmer they are than a wool scarf or bandana. Hope this helps. Take care.
Lena, I'm so sorry you are suffering this way. I understand too and use those same words. It is not nearly as cold here, either so I cannot imagine what you have to endure. But I have a mask like Norma discusses and mine is a 1/2 mask because I didn't see the full size. I got mine from a 4 wheeler site a couple of years ago. It has vent holes for breathing -SO NICE, but the air cannot really come in cold the way it is made. I hope you make it through today. Thinking about you.
Hugs,
Debbie
