Wanted to share some pics from my attack last night and see anyone else gets the same thing. The burning last night started on my ear and moved onto my face. It does that most of the time but sometimes it’s just my face, sometimes it’s just my ear. I can get any combination. The burning can get way worse than these pics, but I was miserable last night.

Only one picture showed up! Here’s the other one:

When I had breakout pain I also had the red burning in the area. Just one of the many symptoms TN suffers get to experience.
Oh Heather, I can see your pain and misery, in your eyes as well as ear and cheeks. Yes, I get the same. Good idea to document. Hope you have a better night tonight.

You poor thing, that looked so painful.
Hope it has settled down today, I don’t get the same thing although the skin feels like it is burning it doesnt go red.
Big hugs and thanks for sharing.
Trish
Thanks for the sympathy guys. The burning has settled today. Mostly electric shocks and stabbing today. This TN monster has so many different faces. I’m so glad I found this site and you guys to talk to. Sure makes it easier to handle.
Wow I cannot believe it. Glad you are feeling a little better. Those pics are intense. What works better for you a hot or cold pack? the only time that happened to me was using capsicum liquid which made everything ridiculous. Was not useful at all
I use ice packs nearly 24/7 to keeps this at bay. I’m having hot flashes like I’m going through menopause or something when I’m not having the intense burning.
awww -- I've never seen this documented on here -
I had/have the invisible zaps - but this is really evidence of burning!
There is a new product out -- sounds weird - but maybe give it a try?
Poise Cooling Towelettes -- the hotter the area gets, the more it cools it off.
They are marketed for menopause and putting on back of your neck --- but couldn't hurt to try and replace ice bags once to see what happens! : )
I looked like that when I had a bad reaction to a drug years ago. Started on my ear and spread.
Bless you, hope you feeling a bit brighter today
I typed a big long reply and it didn’t show up! Boo! I will try the poise things ASAP. I’m willing to try anything when this happens. I can’t put ice directly on it because it sets off my other pains so I just ice all around it. It’s clearly not effective. I asked my neurosurgeons (he was out of town) about the lidocaine cream or mouthwash and she had never heard of that before. She was going to look into it and get back to me. I’m seeing my regular neuro on Tuesday so was going to ask him too. He had mentioned b12 shots so will try those too. Whatever may possibly help I’m ready to try. The burning red face does seem to be a little better since my last mvd, not as intense or staying confined to my ear, so I’m staying hopeful that things are on a track to getting better. It’ll be 6 weeks from my last surgery on Monday, so it’s still pretty fresh. Thank you guys for all the tips. Without you guys I’d have no new leads. Thank you so much.
Oh, love! That looks so painful. poor you. Hope those poise coolers help!
My ear gets really hot and red sometimes.
I too have the burning along with redness on my eat! Glad to know I am not alone
Hi HCal, wow that is so wierd. Many years before my diagnosis my ears would burn so intensely and I remember I actually had blisters. I had no idea what it was. Menepause? Low sugar? Oh, and my face would burn and turn red. NOW! NOW I KNOW! I never even discussed it with my doctor. Well, i have been trying to figure out how long I have had tn. Longer that I once thought. I am 1 week post MVD op today and doing pretty well. Thanks for pics and hang in there!
