Pain!

On the 24th of November I found out in the ER that I had TN.....the doctor put me on Tegretol, which has helped greatly with the Tics. Sadly I have constant pain that huants me day and night. Since then I have been to the ER twice. The secondtime they gave me a shot of steririods and Vicadine. I went home thinking finally I would get peace. I was wrong to think that. The Vicadine worked for a night and I was back in howling pain again yesterday. I cried on the phone with my mother and so my parents took me back into the ER. Third time is a charm right? Hardly...They gave me a shot of delotus (sp) narcotic in the hip, and though it put me in a state of not caring....I was still in so much pain. Will anything give me peace? I'm praying every day that something will finally help me. The pain from TN is so unreal T_T

I see the nerualagist for the first time on the 10th of Decemeber....I pray he holds all the answers!

Hang in there for your neurologist! It sounds as though you are in need of much more powerful pain meds (take a look at our profiles, we’re on lots of meds!) and he or she will be able to help you with that aspect along with giving you a ton of information (I hope).
Peace to you.

Hi Im so sorry i feel your your pain and im sorry i have the same thing and begging for some relife loosing everything i own in the mean time so if you find help please let me know and visa versa

Hi Alisa,
I am sosorry that you are still suffering - stay strong, and encourage your family to help you - you cannot do this alone - get to a neurologist - they can confirm the diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan for you. Tell the scheduling nurse how urgent it is, what they told you this was in the ER, and push to get in to see the neuro as soon as they will let you. The neurologist should start you on a stronger drug regimen, and you need to be sure to have them develop a breakthrough pain plan for you. Either by giving you a prescription for breakthrough pain meds, or by providing you with a letter that goes in your file, and get a copy of it to take to the ER with you so that the doctors there will know what the protocol should be.
This will take you some time, for sure, and you need to get through it - but things will get better as you get a better treatment plan in place from your doctor.
Best of luck, and stay strong.
Lily

Alisa,
Everything you share with us, be certain to share with your Neurologist.
Print the page(s) and bring it with you, it may help you stay focused and give him/her a little more insight. ; ) bob

Hi Alisa,

It might be as simple as your dosage of Tegretol isn’t at the right level yet. You were only diagnosed 10 days ago, & Tegretol has to be slowly increased over time. I’m hoping that your neurologist will work with you to find the right combinations that will ease the horrific pain.

Take care & hang in there,
Judy
