Pain behind eye

i have been experiencing pain behind my right eye for a couple of weeks so i decided to make an appointment to see my optometrist ... i have not seen her in a couple of years ... i saw her today ... both of my eyes have been watering profusely too ... she gave me a sample of some eye drops to use in both eyes ... what i found alarming was that i have high pressure behind my eye (side i have TN on) and it can lead to glaucoma ... she suggest yearly eye exams from now on ... when i came home and did some research, it suggest i have them checked again in two to three months due to the number (23) my eyes are measured at ... has anyone else experienced elevated pressure behind their eye(s) ?

Elevated pressure is generally measured "in" the eye by an optometrist, not "behind" the eye. The feeling of pain and pressure behind the eye is a distinct symptom of TN in the second branch of the trigeminal nerve. That's a different thing, not necessarily associated with pressure "in" the eye. I think you might want to see a neurologist for further evaluation.

i have been seeing the RN at my neurologist' office the past few times ... i questioned her ability to "treat" me when i first met her and she assured me she was qualified because she did her dissertation or thesis on TN (yeah, okay, that qualifies her) sarcasm ... as of late when i have been experiencing flare ups, she ask me what i would like to take, especially when she wanted to give me something to help the pain ... i told her that i did not want something for the pain, i wanted something to keep the pain from happening ... i saw her today ... it was a four month follow up from the last time i saw her ... i talked to her about my visit to the optometrist Wednesday ... she suggested i try one of the procedures other than medication to treat my TN ... she said we have run out of options on the medications ... which we haven't, only the anti-convulsant drugs ... there are myriads of cocktails i can take to keep this pain in check/managed ... today i suggested trying to take lyrica only at night and try to see if i could adjust to it ... before when i was on it, i had to stop because i was not ambulatory while on it ... i had to get around in a wheel chair ... if i can be on the gabapentin during the day and the lyrica at night, maybe i will be able to be on lyrica after my body adjusts

i made a mistake when i said i was seeing a RN for my treatment ... she is a NP

Hi. I have pain like pins or nails inn my right eye, stabbing head pains in right temple and in two very specific tiny spots on top right of my head. Feels like tn pain I had in mandibular pre mvd last June but not quite as electric shocking as that was. Saw my family dr today who prescribed Lyrica (which I took in 2013, 2014 pre mvd)

I don't know what to think. Back on drugs again.

Does this sound like tn in the upper branch? There's also some heat sometimes and my eye bubbles a lot.

I've talked about this on this website before. Hard to get answers but hoping to reach folks who have experienced tn in the upper areas

i have the pain from the top of my head all the way down to my chin (managed by meds) ... i wish i had some words of wisdom to help you through your difficult time ... i am so loopy from the cocktail of meds i am on but i prefer it to the pain ... you say you saw your family doctor ... try to get an appointment with a neurologist preferably one with more knowledge of this disease ... it may take a while to get one ... sometimes there is a waiting time ... until then do as much research on TN ... read a lot of the stories on here ... they were very helpful for me ... more so than my doctors ... i read on hear and learn and take it back to the doctor and tell them what meds i want to try and i get the scripts for it ... i have had gamma knife surgery but it did not work for me ... everyone is different ... what works for one person may not work for you ... me, i prefer the meds ... you sound like you don't ... you can learn from each post on here, at least i hope you can ...best wishes on a resolve
