I still have pain above my eye, like a headache sort of since my surgery. (12 days ago) 15 mg of percocet is barely touching it and only for 2 hours. I also have some ice pick pain every now and then and the deep inner ear pain but I had both of those before surgery. I have had no electric shocks but I have not been weened off of the medication yet. My face is numb, due to surgery and hoping it will go away but not sure if it will. If I wrinkle up my face, it feels like it stays there. Is this still post-op pain or TN pain? It's all in the same places I had TN pain before except when I was getting the electric shocks that went all over and all 3 branches. This is my 2nd MVD. The 2nd did nothing. The surgeon did find another compression. Thanks for any input...
Hi Mary, When did you have the first MVD done? How are you doing today?
I just had my mvd on oct 3rd i still have the teeth pain I had before surgery but was told it could take time for the nerves to actually heal. I had the ear pain too, and have not weaned of the antidepressant that helps yet because I had a complication of fluid in the ear which is slowly going away. I had a major headache for almost two weeks, this is the first week I actually feel normal, but my incision area hurts off and on and itches like all hell. I had numbness for a week on my right side but that is mostly gone now.
My suggestion is to call your neurologist, I called mine and was told everything I was going through is normal, I am still scared about the tooth pain, but it seems to be getting better, so I think we are just going through a natural healing phase but I would still talk to the neurosurgeon
Hope it gets better! Wendy
I agree -call the neurologist and get a follow-up by phone with the actual doctor!
-- do not passively listen to a nurse rattle off an "after-care sheet" !
Boy, sorry I'm so blunt - I just hate it - remembering that misery and seeing people in it !
