Oral Surgery concerns

Having 7 teeth pulled (3 on rt side where my type 1 TN is) on the 25th. Being done under IV sedation and local anesthetic. Am currently taking 3600mg gabapentin and 400mg tegretol /day with good results. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar work done and how it affected their TN. Also did they feel anything during surgery. Thanks everyone.

Hi katysin,
Oh my! That’s a lot of teeth yanking. Ouch! I would recomend two things. One look under the face pain info tab, there is information there about getting dental work done when you have tn. Two search the threads (there’s a search box right above where the discussion threads start) and do a couple of searches on dental work. Three (okay so I lie there’s three things and not just two) work with your doctor and right before and awhile after your dental procedures go up on the dosages of your medications. This will have to keep the pain lower for you. Wishing you the best of luck with your dental work and a speedy recovery. Have a great day and hope it is pain free:)

Thank you for the info Kari. Some of the replies to the dental discussion were comforting. I have a call into my neuro doc now. Just waiting to hear from him. Hoping you have a Happy and Pain Free New Year!
