Odd sensation

I have a question...

For the past few days I have noticed if I scratch or rub my forehead, I begin to have stabbing pain in my jaw. Is this the TN or something else? I typically have the trigger pain wherever I touch my face, this seems to be jumping to another area. I am so confused...:(

~Thanks for your help.

Hi Jab jaw,
Triggers can change, no rhyme or reason unfortunately.
Be cautious about your forehead in the coming days…

Look at google images for Trigeminal Neuralgia and for atypical face pain

There you will see nerve pathways -- see if any match for you

I understand the nerve pathways, looking at the pics always helps -thanks:) I am very curious if anyone has experienced touching V1 & the pain jumping to the V2 or V3. The V1 area is new for me.
Mimi I am glad you are doing well! Congrats on your MVD!!!

My trigger spots tend to move around or disappear at times. I noticed sometimes if I clean my ear, it happens, or sometimes when I wash my face or the sheets barely rub it. But it's not ALWAYS like that, so it's really weird.

This thing is very confusing and you are not alone. One neurosurgeon told me that since my pain floats around my face that I do not have TN1 and would not be a candidate for MVD. When were you diagnosed and how did your symptoms first present themselves. How has it changed. Mine has changed a great deal and I am confused as well. My pain is controlled with a low dose of Tegretol with minimal side affects so for now I am just going to sit tight!

Mine started in the lower jaw & sinus area. I don’t have any pain in my forehead, it is just weird that if I scratch or rub my forehead I get a a stab in the jaw area. I have a lot of pain in my teeth, two teeth pulled & a few root canals. I had TMJ surgery hoping that would help the jaw pain, little did I know it has progressed.
All of my pain is on the left side. I just HATE this, want the pain to go away:(

I also get pain in lower jaw when touching different parts of my face. These trigger points change all the time. Just be very careful when touching anywhere on the face and head. also this morning pain came from touching a point in my neck!! I think everything is connected in some way. Hope you feel better soon.
