Just gettin started on this med…wondering who else takes it and how it works for you??
Hi, Lisa.
When my doc added nortriptyline to the gabapentin I was already taking, I finally felt some relief from the pain. This med is known to work best on neuropathic (so ATN/TN2) type pain. I personally didn't experience any side effects from the med except perhaps a little more drowsiness/lethargy. I hope this med works great for you!
I was on this med for a year. I have bilateral ATN. It worked really well for me. I had to go up and down on dosages sometimes as my pain is always changing.
It made me tired so I only took an hour or two before bed. Also dry mouth. Other then that it helped me immensely.
I had such high hopes for this medication. However the side effects from it for me were too great and I had to come off it.I was so so disappointed as I had researched the medication and I had read that it worked very well for many people.Oh well…onto more research!
I was on nortriptyline several years ago along with tegretol and gabapentin. The main side effect was significant drowsiness - it worked well at putting me to sleep at night which was beneficial since a good night's sleep generally seems to help reduce my pain outbreaks.
