hello everyone. please excuse me if i ask some things that have already been mentioned! i landed up in hospital this weekend as they thought i was having a stroke as the pain in my eye was unbearable and i had lost vision and it was spreading down through my face and arms - but that apart - it is my eye i am most concerned about. with each attack it seems to be getting more painful, red and watery and i am beginning to lose my sight in it.
has anyone else experienced this?
I have!
In fact, that is exactly how my TN/MS life started. I had a horrible pain in my left eye only, and after about 3 weeks of nonstop lightenling like, stabbing pain I ended up in an ambulance being told I was having a stroke and we were on our way to the hospital. When we arrived, the stroke team was there waiting for me in Trauma Room 1. There were so many people, all doing diffent things around me.
After multiple tests and an Emergency CT I found out it was not a stroke, thank God, and that they had no idea what was going on and why I had every stroke symptom without a stroke.
That was 7 1/2 years ago. I now know that it was a TN attack caused by having MS as well.
The good news is neither one of us had a stroke, right? I like to start with the good news first. No stroke, no permenant damage (hopefully). I still have left sided weakness but I can still use my left side. How about you? Are you feeling better. have you lost any mobility on that side?
I'll check back later as I'm off to the Neuro.....
Take Care
hi! wow! you went through almost exactly what i did! my eye is still affected and although i am almost full strength down my right side, i do find that any knocks or injurys or sudden movements will send pain everywhere. but yes - thankgoodness neither of us had a stroke. i also have M.E also known as chronic fatique syndrome - according to my doctor, certain conditions can make TN worse and M.E is one of them, fibro is another. i am starting a new drug today so fingers crossed
