Friend ask me if I had TN1 or 2, I dont know as when saw doctor he gave me results and I am new to this condition. My symptoms seem to result from parts of both TNs really.

Recently diagnosed this year this week, but I dont get what others seem to suffer, I only suffer if anything hot or cold goes that side of my face near my gum, then it bangs as if toothache for couple of mins and goes away. That side of my face feels a bit slight tingly like a lazy eye but I dont have a lazy eye.

I have been given meds but not taken unless I need to as I read they cause weight gain, and I am trying to lose it not gain.

I also read the connection with MS and TN, I dont have MS but my grand ma had this. I also have hypertension and underactive thryoid, so when I was told I had TN I thought, mmmm, another one to add to the list of illnesses.

I had my lower wisdom tooth removed left in July, or half of it to save disturbing the root. When started to recover I ended up with dry socket which was very painful, when that healed I then got bacterial tonsilitus which was painful. After that went the opposite side upper right started to hurt, went to dentist thought I had hole in my crown. he said I had TN and then I saw my GP who sent me for MRI scan of which was confirmed last week.

Well thats my story anyway.

I have read it gets worse with him and I hope not because I hardly get any pain with it. The GP said I have a mild form.

I question whether having my wisdom tooth out has disturbed the nerve opposite side as I got TN like a month after my wisdom removal. Because it was on opposite side I found it hard to seek a connection. But GP said its still possible since nerves work for opposite sides of the body like the left and right brain stems opposite sides etc.

Oh I have found lately that one side of my mouth feels slight soreness, as if a sore is there, when there is nothing there.

Well thats about it.

Any one is welcome to reply

I have read it gets worse with time, not him. correction

Hello! I am fairly new to all of this and my journey began with what we thought wad an abcessed tooth. I have also experienced feeling like I have sores on the left side of my tongue (I have TN on the left side), but nothing was there. I hope your pain continues to be mild Mine started out horrible, and I have really bad days, but I also have really good days and I never take them for granted! Have a great day!

TN1 - what I am in remission from - felt like a tazer gun / lightning strike to the face, intermittent - could get 1 zap or 8 in an hour. Wind made it bad! TN2 - I believe is more like a constant pain/burning sensation.

If I may ask, what med is it they want you on that is a weight-gainer -- most topline tn meds are not that.

The more you read - the faster you will lead your own treatment and feel better.

There is topical lidocaine patches for face Rx - and Rx mouthwash lidocaine too.

Keep posting!

For 10 years I was told that my pain was in my head and to avoid stressful situations!! The best peice of advice my dentist could come up with was to sleep in a dark room with a temp of around 17 degrees!! Oh and this is very common in females! My gp referred me to a maxisurgeon when I described my symptoms to him!! The maxisurgeon has diagnosed facial athromyalgia and sent me for physio. Since receiving physio I am experiencing pain on the left side of my face which starts at my nostril and can only be described as a bomb detonating in my face, this last for a few seconds then goes away - I am jus left with a little face ache. I have been back to my dentist who said that his feeling I’d now TN but I am too young for that ! I have a MRI booked for beginning of feb! I guess what I am trying to say is a second opinion is always worth having - I spent years complaining to be told I am making up the pain, if my gp had not have witnessed my episode he would not have referred me. As I work with autism, I was on training with a specialist when I had an episode and she said that I’m describing TN (which I had never heard of) when I rang bk the maxisurgeon they agreed that they had overlooked TN because of my age. Since my last attack I av a numb area on my cheek :frowning: but numbness is better than the alternative!! I hope u get the answers ur looking for but please don’t stop trying.
