Neurosurgeons within PDX Kaiser system?

Hello,

Does anyone have experience with neurosurgeons within Kaiser Portland? I have been referred for consultation with neurosurgery - was given choice of 2 docs to speak with... Weinstein or Wrobel. I have an MRI w/ contrast scheduled for 4/19 and the hour long consult is on 4/29. Any info/experience would be appreciated! I'm 37. Diagnosed with TN2 on 3/20. Pain/muscle spasms had immediately started following oral surgery on 2/5... I have done quite a bit of research/reading on TN, ATN. I'm aware surgery is not generally indicated for TN2, but my docs agree that we have to know if there is anything we can see and if anything can be done...

I was so stoked to see Dr Weinstein’s name listed! He did my surgery to splice the trigeminal nerves and remove a vein. That was just 2 years ago March. He was a student under one of the top TN Drs in the U.S., and confers with him, that practices at OHSU. When I first met him, his very personal manner and knowledge was not what I expected from
a neurosurgeon, but so comforting. He gave me many options and was willing to do a procedure that I was comfortable with. He was also wonderful afterwards, concerned about my progress after surgery. I would recommend him to everyone!

How are you doing 2 years later??? Was it worth it? And do you have any numbness or permanent effects?

I’m so sorry I’m just getting back to you!
2yrs later I’m about 80% less pain than before the surgery. I have no permanent effects, or numbness. I’m totally glad I did the surgery and would do it again. Which is definitely a possibility if I feel that the pain gets worse.
