How soon should your neuro be sending you to a pain clinic? Right now I am only on 600mg of Lyrica & had to be weaned off Trileptal because it was decereasing my sodium. Now they want to send me to a pain clinic since I am having pain that they are saying can't be controlled. I'm confused. My neuro - who is out of town so another neuro had to answer my questions- said we would be trying something else. So when I called last week because of pain this is what this neuro on call said. I have pain in my head, if that makes sense, sometimes it's both sides on top & other times its just one sided. That's how alot of my pain starts. So Lyrica is the end all drug?? It has already made me gain 20 pounds in a few months & thats just eating mostly oatmeal. I can't imagine the weight gain/ higher bp makes this stuff better.
So frustrated right now & falling more into a depression. I am feeling bad for me & especially for my son. Ugh. Thanks for listening!
I personally havnt' tried lyrica yet. I read you have type 1 and 2 Im sorry you are having trouble getting the pain under control as am I. I have type 2 and im on tricylic anti depressent which has helped quite a bit for my pain. Seems like you should be on a combo on a tca and a anti sez med. i wonder would all of them decrease your sodium? I have yet to go to a pain clinic for im waiting on insurance before I can see someone else. Is surgery an option for you or maybe a nerve block i have read a few stories on here where people got some relief for a nerve block. My emergency go to is a ice pak on the back right side of my neck. Maybe a pain pill til you can figure out something or someway to get more relief? I understand u have a son so that may be hard to be on since you can't be knocked out with a little one around. Hang in there!! A less painful day is in your future!!
Keep asking neuro / pain doctor all the questions you need - if you don't get treated mentally and physically as you need to be - fire them - get second opinions -- so very few are TOTALLY versed in TN -
You might need both doctors --- this is from one of the moderators:
