Well my referral to the neurologist was approved. They sent me a letter also stating all the procedures and tests I was approved for. When I google TN looking for info about it I always see some procedure with a needle being put through the cheek up into the nerve. I don’t think I’m scared of the tests and procedures as much as I am that they will trigger an attack and I find myself starting to live in fear of attacks. I’m scared to go out when it’s cold or windy they are triggers. As well as laying down at night. I stay awake until I’m so tired I pass out.
before you go read on here (somewhere) about what questions you should ask as well. the dr will ask about the pain, what brings it on, that sort of thing
The procedure with the needle thru the cheek is a trigeminal nerve block. I had one done 2 months ago with great success. However it was only done due to continuing to have break thru pain while on medication. It was a very simple procedure to recover from. I was back to work the next day. It did trigger attacks the first few days after but I’ve had nothing since. Hope all goes well for you as you begin treatment.
