My new neurologist suggested Gamma today and I as wondering what everyone's thoughts were. I am not crazy about the radiation but I also heard MVD was more successful. Anyone's opinions would be most appreciated!
MVD more successful - if you do gamma - then do MVD - MVD chance is lesser than if you had not done that first.
MVD is in the 90th + percentile ---- pain can vary can go away or less for years
I think Gamma is only weeks or months at best?
Put Gamma in search box -- mannnny stories here!
Research allllll you can!
I had MVD at 1 yr of TN -- but you MUST have one of THE BEST surgeons for TN - to have best chance.
I had doctor Ken Casey - flew from Missouri to Michigan --- you may have to travel to get one of the best
Another is Dr. Lim at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore
Keep seeking!
I have not had MVD or Gamma Knife but I do not believe in the gamma knife all they are doing is damaging the nerve is hopes it will not work so you do not feel pain I am not to sure I want to cause anymore damage to my nerves because if it does not work KC Dancer is right it lesson the results of the MVD I know serveral people who had Gamma knife first and wish they did not not it can cause more problems j I think it is best for you to research both procedures and come to your own decision. Good Luck
