I have not been in touch for about a month now and have not even had the time to thank Jackie and Mimi for befrending me.
My youngest daughter has MS, a single mother of three. She was in the hospital twice in one week (the week of the SANDY HURRICANE) Then my mom was taken to the hospital from the assistant living home to the hospital where she passed and went to live with the Lord. Hench.........no time until now to get on the blog. There has been no change with my TN through all of this but I had been ignoring some health issues of my own.
My question is....................can you have fibromyalgia as well as trigeminal neuralgia??
Most days I feel like I have been run over by a mack truck
Today is really really bad. I do not sleep well. I wake up in pain all the time hardly able to move in the mornings. My moods have been awful, headaches, flu- like, fatigue, deep deep muscle pain I feel like I am 90 years old!! My legs have a hard time some days getting me up the stairs.
I have looked up fibromyalgia on the internet and I have 13 of the 19 tender points they talk about. It seems to be getting worse. I cannot wait to get home from work today and take a hot soak in the tub.
I will be making a doctors appointment very soon.
Is there anyone else experiencing the same things???
Hi Nana, I hope that things start to improve for you soon, you have had so much to cope with recently aside from your own health. I don't know anything about fibromyalgia, but I do know that there are people here with both fibromyalgia and TN and there is a group for people with both, so members there may be able to help with your questions.
I hope that you are able to get to the doctor soon and that you have better days soon.
Yes Nana, Ruth is correct. There is a subgroup here which you can find under GROUPS on the black header. Although we cannot diagnose you I can concur with Ruth, you can have both. Also many report that a side effect of their meds are what you are having just now. That’s why it is important you see that Dr and chat with him.
I am sorry to read about all the issues you are having just now. They will not be helping your body heal. I send you my deepest sympathy and a big hug.
Im so sorry for your loss, and all the youve been through lately. that sounds like a lot. Yes you can have fibromyalgia and TN. I am one who has both, I was diagnosed with fibro this last summer. I would suggest seeing your GP to get a referral to a rheumatologist. Any doctor can treat fibro and diagnose it, but here’s the deal this is illness that can mimic other illnesses too, such as lupus. The benefit of the specialist is they will run some blood work panels and have usually seen more than a few people with fibro. It is important to treat both of these illnesses. I also know what you mean by 90 year old and a Mac truck. These are the main reasons I’ve been away from the TN support group lately the good news is some of the medications to treat fibromyalgia are the same as TN. There is a subgroup for those who suffer from fibromyalgia here AND another support groups here at Bens Friends for Fibromyalgia look to the right hand side of the screen and down the list of other Bens Friends groups. I’m stilling learning the fibro stuff, but we can learn it together if you’d like I hope you feel better soon and have a great day that is pain free.
I just talked to my best friends mom the other day and she has fibro and was getting TN1 attacks ive also read on here alot of both not sure why this happens
