My Treatment for Trigeminal Neuralgia Pain

Hi everyone I just received my ultrasound yesterday and tried it this morning. I used aloe Vera gel as my Burt’s Bees didn’t come yet. Wish me luck!

The Aloe Vera Gel is an interesting idea. I’m hoping the best for you.
Give the massager a chance, use it when you are hurting.

Hi Everyone,
Just want to share my TN/TMJ(?) conditions abit here. My started a tingling feeling in my right cheek after a dental refilling back 6-7 years ago, then it gradually got worse… I got electric shock pain when wind blowing in my face, during taking a shower, chewing hard food , brushing my teeth, etc… Funny things are that the trigger points on my right cheek keeps changing…Lately, it is right below my lower left lip.
During these 7 suffering years, I have not taken any prescribed medicine at all. Things have helped all these years to manage the pain are:

  1. The sauna : Pain goes away while I am in sauna for about 30-40 minutes
  2. Apply Heating Pad to my cheek ( sometimes I use heating pad while chewing my meals)
  3. Ballroom dancing: Pain goes away while I am dancing. I dance around 6-8 hours a week. I am 73 years old now and I am joining 4 different Senior Centers for Dancing/TaiChi practices weekly. Dancing away the Pain!!!
  4. I take two omega 3-6-9, two magnisium ( and lately, one B complex, after reading one of the messages posted here) daily
  5. Applied the tropical compound cream DICLOFEN 1%, CYCLOB 1%, LIDO 5%( for about 2 weeks, 3 times/day) to the pain areas
Besides all of these, I also went to acupuncture/massage therapies and tried anything I found on internet…
Just want to share with everybody here…

Been trying the Aloe Vera the last couple of days, seems to work fine with the massager and the wife likes it for a hand lotion. The one I am using is clear, isn’t sticky, and has no fragrance. Are you having any success?

Sounds very rough, Nora 1. I’m sorry you are suffering so badly. I hope we all find a solution.

chuck, I just want to point out that are you are using prescriptions. The tropical compound cream DICLOFEN 1%, CYCLOB 1%, LIDO 5% is prescription strength.

Make sure everything you do/take is in your medical file and on a medical alert card in your wallet.

azurelle, yes, the compound cream is prescribed by my doctor. I only used it 3 months AGO for about 2 week-duration with VERY tiny amount applied to the pain area ( Since I do not want to take any prescription drug orally, my doctor asked me to try out this cream). This compound will make you feel sleepy, so if you use it, do not try to drive… I already stopped using the cream after 2 week trial.

Hey chuck, did the compound work at all for you? Other than that side effects, that is. Because I’m thinking if it did you may want to try the lidocaine patch. You can get it OTC at 4% strength or by prescription at 5%.

I swear by the lidocaine patch for my ATN, although it does tend to make me kinda groggy, even using just a strip. Not enough that I can’t drive or things like that, I’m just kinda vague when using it. But for me, it works. It’s not quick fix. Someone else here described it as a slow build up to relief and I agree with that absolutely.

Sorry to answer your question late, azurelle, but I just visited the forum this morning. Yes, the compound did work for me. It stopped the pain but it made me feel drowsy the whole day. Besides it did have some side effects to my stomach. I only used it for 2 weeks , 3 times/day as prescribed and the 265$ 2 oz-jar is still almost full. I intend to use it again if someday I cannot handle the pain. Currently, my pain moves to to a different spot near lower lip on the right side. I do not know how to call this type of pain. It only triggers when I touch that spot or chew meals. The most inconvenient thing is that I cannot shave with my electrical shaver anymore, but have to use manual one.
Thanks for the info on the lidocaine patch.

I am surprised that no one has posted a happy result story yet. It seems to me everyone is going to, or just ordered the device. Interesting !!!

I am too. There must be someone besides me who has had some sort of relief from this treatment whether it’d be from using a PainShield or from using a hand held massager. Please respond positively or negatively.

seattllei & wallax2, I bought mine from website mentioned above by wallax2

It arrived 2 weeks ago. It did not work that well in my case. Maybe my pain is different from wallax2. It is not constant pain. I only feel it when chewing or touching the right lower lip ( a nightmare if I need to shave mustache/beard). Besides, the instruction in the manual (mostly in chinese) is not clearly on how to use the second button from the bottom. Do I need to press this button or not or leave it alone when power on. Wallax2, any comment if you have one like this?

Sorry you haven’t received the same relief as I have Chuck. I too bought the one you did but it didn’t do as good a job as my original. But if you haven’t received any relief I would not suggest getting another. My original wand really helped the pain I was receiving at the point of the trigeminal ganglion. The second button from the bottom, you asked about, is for creating a pulsating wave instead of a constant sound wave, I do not use the pulsating option. If you haven’t be sure to use the wand with some sort of facial lotion or gel. I was surprised on how much a lotion/gel made for achieving my relief.

Hi Everybody,
It has been a while since the last post on this forum…
But I have an update that might help somebody here. I recently had a colonoscopy and after that my TN/TMJ (?) started to flare up. This time it behaves a little bit different… since most of the methods I used to use before to suppress it does not not work well this time. Then one night, while surfing the net, I ran into the following ad accidentally

After read them and did more researches on google, I found this

http://fliphtml5.com/wnsa/ihql/basic

I am particularly interested in Chapter 3 of the book since I know, deeply in my heart for a long time, that the pain I have is not TN or TMJ, but it has something to do with arthritis. The reason I said this because my pain would go away whenever I expose myself to the 24hr fitness sauna room (at around 190 oF temperature).
So, I made decision to order this, according to the chapter 3 of the book advise

From the company ad, it will take 4-10 days to get the result, but after the first candy, I amazingly felt the pain reducing 75% the next morning. I am on the second day now and still feel painless. If the read the comments on Amazon pages, this candies only work for certain people, but not all.
This is the first time I feel very hopeful about the right cure for my pain that I suffered for too long. And I hope this will last…keep my fingers crossed…
I am very cheerful that I can’t wait to share with everybody here.

Would you mind telling me the exact name and brand of your device I would like to order it, I have severe pain and already tried the tms therapy with electric shock and that didn’t work. Thanks

This is going to sound nutty but when my pain is really bad inside my mouth, I brush the rest of my teeth with my Sonicare toothbrush, and get as close as I can bear to the bad teeth and gums. It seems to kind of exhaust the nerve and it eventually blessedly shuts off for a while. I think it’s basically doing the same thing as these massagers, but inside my mouth where I have the most pain.

Anybody find an ultrsonic massager that works lately. I am new to the site. I had Eagles syndrome and skull base surgery. I was doing okay until I hit my head on the freezer door while getting something out of the refrigerator. I also have a bad bite with a Guardd that is suposed to even out my bite. Been in pain around the jaw and eye socket for months now. Feels like tight skin around my face all the time. Going on amitriptyline for now, but looking for answers. Ct scans of neck and head show nothing.MRI of neck and shoulder do not show reason for pain. Do have shoulder isues.Neurosurgeon is ordering more tests.Waiting for followup with my skull base surgeon in late January, pushed back from Dec 17, 2019. I need help.
Anyone who can help much appreciated.

Hi,

Great that this worked for you. Can you please mention the name of the device you used? I am based in the Netherlands and unable to open any of the links…

What is the name of the device please?
